Gigantic Roar is a four-piece rock band from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with style mixed with 60's psych-jams, funked-up grooves, and garage-punk.
Then formed in 2012 by four rebellious youth, Gigantic Roar made a thunderous entrance into the Taiwanese independent music scene before they even graduated high school. Their explosive debut quickly captured attention, landing them spots at prestigious music festivals like Formoz, Megaport, and Rainbow Bay Festivals in Taiwan.
Their first EP, Climbing Up the Birdy Tower, was released in 2014, and by the end of that year, Gigantic Roar was nominated for "Best Live Performance" at the Golden Indie Music Awards. Their second album, Ain’t Got Nothing but Time, Son, released in 2016, earned a nomination for "Best Rock Album" at the same awards. Following the album’s tour, Gigantic Roar boldly decided to go on hiatus in 2016.
Even during their hiatus, the members of Gigantic Roar continued to make waves in the music world. Lead vocalist "Leo Wang" became a prominent rap artist, winning the Golden Melody Award for Best Male Singer in 2019. Drummer Tang continued to shape the music scene as a member of the Golden Indie Music Award-nominated band, Shallow Levée.
Despite their brief four-year run, they became a legendary phenomenon in Taiwan's 2010s rock scene.
