SUMING

Suming Rupi, also known as Suming, is an indigenous singer-songwriter from the Amis Nation in 'Etolan Community, Taitung County, Taiwan. 

With a wide range of music genres, including rock, folk, electronic and pop, Suming often blends Amis traditional music elements with contemporary ones while writing songs, appealing to a broader audience worldwide.

His 6th album “O Milaladiway” in 2021 is just in tribute to Amis traditional way of singing and music as created and arranged on the basis of chanting, call-and-response and polyphony but produced in a more modern manner. 

Not only recognized with numerous significant awards in Taiwan, but Suming has been invited to perform at festivals abroad, such as Glasonbury Festival, Fuji Rock Festival, WOMAD UK, Darwin Festival, Riddu Riđđu Festival, etc,

His music often reflects his personal experience as an indigenous person, covering themes of race, love, family, culture, gender, environment and so on to deliver his care for his people, culture and nation.
