Scattered Purgatory, formed in 2013, is renowned for its experimental fusion of traditional Taiwanese music, psychedelic ambiance, and avant-garde sounds of drone metal. They’re quickly garnered international attention, with releases through Japanese and Western labels. Their journey began by reinterpreting ancient Taiwanese religious music with electronic and experimental elements, leading to their acclaimed debut album, "The Lost Ethnography of the Miscanthus Ocean" in 2014.

From 2015 onwards, they embarked on extensive tours across Australia, Europe and North America, culminating in prestigious performances at global festivals such as Canada's New Forms Festival (2019) and the Netherlands' Le Guess Who (2019). Their immersive performances earned widespread acclaim.

During the pandemic, they pivoted to online platforms, participating in virtual festivals such as the UK's NTS Radio and Poland's Unsound Festival, showcasing their adaptability and maintaining global fan engagement.

In 2024, Scattered Purgatory began preparations for a new album, marking a pivotal moment as they were invited by Taiwan's largest commercial music festival, Megaport. This marked their increasing influence on the domestic music scene, solidifying their status as a pioneering force in Taiwan's avant-garde music landscape.
